JACKSON COUNTY
On Monday 18th, Tina & Mark Mossbarger found a WINTER WREN at Florida Caverns State Park. It was seen along the first trail to the left of the Visitors center, about a quarter mile down the trail. Delorme p. 32, 1B; Pranty p. 66

OKALOOSA COUNTY
Two ASH-THROATED FLYCATCHERS were found at the Ft. Walton Beach Spray Fields on Monday 18th by Brian Monk. One seen and heard at the southwestern corner of the spray fields, where a Vermilion Flycatcher has been seen, and another, seen and heard at the end of the vagrant trail. Also seen on Monday were 3 adult GREATER WHITE-FRONTED GEESE at the Mama Rosa's Ponds and an EARED GREBE at the Sewage Pond. DeLorme p.44; Pranty p. 52

FRANKLIN COUNTY
4 SURF SCOTERS, 4 BLACK SCOTERS, & 1 WHITE-WINGED SCOTER were seen on Sunday 17th from the KOA Campground at Alligator Point, very close in to shore by Tina & Mark Mossbarger. DeLorme p. 61; Pranty p. 73

LEON COUNTY
On Sunday 17th, 2 EARED GREBES were found by Tina & Mark Mossbarger at the Springhill Sewage Treatment Plant. The two grebes were in one of the smaller ponds to the right of the last largest pond at the end. DeLorme p. 50; Pranty p. 69

WAKULLA COUNTY
At St. Marks NWR a BROWN CREEPER was seen on Friday 15th in the tall pines to the left of the restrooms by Picnic Pond, and a TROPICAL/COUCH'S KINGBIRD was seen near the south end of East River Pool on the west side of the road. This is the same general area where a Tropical Kingbird wintered last year (J. Ault). DeLorme p. 50; Pranty p. 78

NASSAU COUNTY
A sea watch off of 16th ave. South, in Jacksonville by Noel Wamer on Wednesday 20th produced: 3 RED-THROATED LOONS, 1 LONG-TAILED DUCK, 7 BLACK SCOTERS & 1 SURF SCOTER. DeLorme p. 58

BREVARD COUNTY
A probable MANGROVE SWALLOW was first found on Monday 18th by Murray Gardler at the Viera Wetlands. The bird was seen again all day on Tuesday (D. Simpson, B. Ahern & J. Hintermister) and Wednesday (L. Atherton). Thursday it was seen briefly several times in the morning. As of the time of this posting there have been no sightings of the Mangrove Swallow for Friday. Directions: from I-95 in Brevard County take Exit 73 west (Wickham Rd.), proceed to the end of the road and turn left into the Sewage Treatment Plant. You MUST sign in at the building on the left, and then proceed straight out to a small parking lot before the dike; park here. Walk up onto the dike and head left for about half a mile. For the last several days the Mangrove Swallow was seen with CAVE SWALLOWS of the Mexican race (except on Thursday) flying around a concrete structure on the right side of the dike. For a more current location of the Swallow ask at the office when you sign in. The Mangrove Swallow is easily distinguished from all other Swallows in the area by its complete white rump. Though there is some debate as to which species this is (Mangrove or White-Rumped), if the ID proves to be correct and accepted this would be a first record for North America! DeLorme pg. 88

PASCO COUNTY
Ken Tracey has reported at least 2 SCISSOR-TAILED FLYCATCHERS along Hwy 54 in west Pasco. Two were in front of the Longleaf Development on Monday 18th, which is 1 mile east of Little Road. There has also been one hanging out just east of the Little Road/Hwy 54 intersection too. DeLorme p. 82; Pranty p. 116

PINELLAS COUNTY
A GOLDEN-CROWNED KINGLET was found Tuesday 19th, at Ft. DeSoto Park by Irene Hernandez. It was seen in the Tower area. Opposite North Beach there is a dirt road marked off with a chain before the turnoff for Arrowhead. Proceed down this dirt road, the Kinglet was seen on the right side in some Australian Pines by a mound. Also at Ft. DeSoto Park, 4 dark morph SNOW GEESE (2 adults & 2 juveniles) was seen on Wednesday 20th on the grassy area across from the Bay Pier by Irene Hernandez. DeLorme p. 90; Pranty p. 126

HENRY COUNTY
A male VERMILION FLYCATCHER continues to be seen from Government Rd. about 13.5 miles north of Alligator Alley, Saturday 16th. This is presumed to be the same individual that wintered here last year (B. Roberts). DeLorme p. 113

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY
A sea watch off of Key Biscayne on Tuesday 19th by Robin Diaz produced one CORY’S SHEARWATER and a probable PARASITIC JEAGER. DeLorme p. 119; Pranty p. 222

MONROE COUNTY
A SWAINSON’S HAWK was seen over Higgs Beach on Key West, Sunday 17th by Mark Hedden. There have been no sightings of the SLATY-BACKED GULL at Higgs Beach for over two weeks. DeLorme p. 127; Pranty p.258

In Marathon at Lake Edna a GREATER FLAMINGO has been observed several times over the last week. Lake Edna is around MM57 on the Gulf Side (roughly between Curry Hammock State
Park and the Grassy Key Dairy Bar). The Flamingo is not banded and could possibly represent a wild bird (Hedden & Marchant). DeLorme p. 125; Pranty p. 252
