Peewee the male rubythroat, who maintained exclusive rights to our backyard, was here from October(when I first noticed him) til mid December, and has ceded his territory to a female of his species(Peewee-ette?) who occasionally tolerates another male's presence at the far end of her turf. She has not made clear whether her tenancy is week to week or month to month. To my knowledge, no hummingbird has visited either of the two carefully maintained and prominently placed feeders I had hanging near the preferred firebushes.
