i was up there on saturday morning and didn't see the eared grebe, but i did see his friend the scaup swimming alone in their usual spot.
as an alternative to lake ida rd and a bit closer, there is now a thru street called flavor pict rd just north of both wako and green cay. going from green cay to wako i prefer this route because it's all right turns (except for the u-turn to enter wako) but either way will get you there quickly, it's only about a mile drive.
