Ten Scissor-tailed Flycatchers were seen this morning on SW 312 Street, about 1/4 mile east of SW 217 Avenue. Four were on the phone wires, the others were across the street, perched on bushes in the overgrown lot. Only two were seen on a return pass through the area this afternoon.

A Summer Tanager was seen on Gumbo Limbo Trail in Everglades National Park, presumably the same individual reported by Alex Harper on 1/20.

All the usual Anhinga Trail species were seen by today's birding class (8th graders from Centennial Middle), including two Purple Gallinules, a just-hatched Anhinga and an Osprey that, before the students' very eyes, dove in and pulled an Oscar from Taylor Slough. Assuming the Osprey didn't drop it, there is now one less exotic in ENP. The Double-crested Cormorants are doing their part to control ENP exotics as well.
