This morning birding out on the Coastal Prairie Trail, Brynne and I spotted a large dark-morph Buteo that I never saw well enough to put a name on. Long story short, I think is was either a young Red-tailed or a Rough-legged, and I'm leaning toward Rough-legged. We lost sight of the bird as it was gliding back toward Flamingo so keep and eye out (or up rather) if you find yourself down that way! The bird basically looked like a dark-morph Short-tailed Hawk on steroids.
