I earnestly sought my life Pinyon Jay yesterday in the high pinyon/juniper scrub of Joshua Tree N.P., Califonia -- but bombed yet again. It was about 20 deg F up there, with snow and blowing hard, so it's not surprising there wasn't much birdlife around. Did see my second-ever Prairie Falcon and lots of Black-throated Sparrows in the park, plus a coyote. There are numerous Roadrunners around my hotel in La Quinta, and it's always a kick to see the nutball things they do.
