Have caracaras ever been sighted as far south as Doral? I was birdwatching by NW 90 st and 107 Ave. near a construction site and saw a large dark bird flying in the distance. It was flapping its wings, not gliding like a vulture. I was barely able to focus on it but did make out a red face and white on tail before it disappeared behind the melaleuca stands. I have seen Caracaras before, not in Florida, but the sighting was so brief.
