I thought I would throw in my 2 cents. It looks like mountain bluebird( male). I am looking at the photo of the Mountain bluebird in the Western edition of the Audubon guide( plate 599) and comparing it to the blue-grey tanager , plate 595in the eastern edition. I think it is a mountain bluebird. I see these birds in Colorado every summer ( they are truly spectacular) and they are a striking blue. I also considered the gray breasted jay, but the bird is too small.
Perhaps after the 3 snowstorms in Colorado in 3 weeks, this guy wanted warmer weather...!
