: I've seen 4 Loggerhead Shrikes in the upper keys this last week. Pranty lists the shrikes as being quite uncommon/rare down here, anybody have an insight on this?

Brennan and All:

In SW Florida, at least in Collier County, Loggerhead Shrikes are fairly common given the right habitat. It seems that they have made the adjustment somewhat to suburbia if there is an ample food source available. I see them routinely and they breed here. Of course, in no way are my comments based on a scientific study, so you'll just have to take or leave my observations. . . . but I do a lot of birding (probably moreso than virtually any other birder in my neck of the woods) all over Collier County.
