I went with my son down to Flamingo to bird a little. We spent about 4-hours birding the area. I saw the scaup at Eco Pond on the island under the mangroves, it was sleeping most of the time. It still could be a greater but I did not see it well enough to be sure. We had four Short-tailed Hawks on the drive down, three dark morphs and one light morph. We also had a couple of Bald Eagles, Roseate Spoonbill, Northern Shoveler, Blue-winged Teal, Red-breasted Merganser and a few shorebirds. We did not see the female Vermilion Flycatcher.
