Although not a field guide, try "Birds of Prey" by Floyd Scholz, Stackpole Books. It has great close up pictures of 17 different raptors. Each bird has over a dozen photos. Floyd is a noted bird carver and if you want to give that a try, the book has the patterns for each bird and the instructions to carve and paint an American Kestrel. He also has another book entitled "Owls", also by Stackpole Books.
