Wakodahatchee was a very busy place this morning. Coots, Moorehens, and Gallinules were about in great numbers as were Great Herons, Tri-color, Green backs, Anhingas and Cormorant. One visitor reported seeing a pair of bobcats on Saturday afternoon late and that was the "buzz" on the walk this day. The walk has been repainted with wood preserver and is a bit tacky in places. New purple martin nests are up and are quite colorful. Duck weed is almost beyond belief. It is everywhere. That makes for difficult camera shots since it reflects as a mirror the light. No limpkins were heard or seen. But the cement walk area was abounding with warblers and shrikes and gnatcathers. That is such a charming place to sit and watch--it doesn't bounce when the power walkers stride by. A pait of mottled ducks were close to the boardwlk and quite obliging for pictures. No hawks, ospreys, blacknecked stilts yet. But the alligators were bellowing. One immature wood stork glided in for a look see and held the attention of the the twenty some people on the walk. Then came the glossy ibis and a large flock of white ibis. All in all.....a good days visit and photo shoot.
