A total of 18,750 individuals of 128 species were seen by 35 participants during the Miami Christmas Bird Count, held on December 16. Two exotics were new for the count: Scaly-headed Parrot, seen by the Miami Beach team and Red-fronted Parakeet, seen by the Miami Springs/Hialeah team. Other highlights included 51 Bronzed Cowbirds, seen by the Opa-Locka team and Louisiana Waterthrush, found by the Greynold's Park team. High counts were recorded for the following species: Common Loon, Cooper's Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, Broad-winged Hawk, Eurasian Collared-Dove, Red-bellied Woodpecker, Blue-headed Vireo, Blue Jay, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, Gray Catbird, Pine Warbler and Ovenbird.
