I got a call from the folks at Deering that attempts to find the spindalis today failed to relocate the bird. I was also informed that the area where it was located is accessible to the public, but only with a nature guide. However, there is so much habitat in there, the bird could be anywhere within the complex. If time allows it, I will try to search for it again this week.
Has anyone relocated the Spindalis in Bill Baggs lately? With the news of two Western Spindalis's around, my friend from Louisiana has decided to make his Florida trip early in January. I'd like to know for sure that at least one of these guys is reliably found.
