Visiting Vermont birder Taj Schottland sent me the following report from today (12/24):
"...today at Loxahatchee i had at least 8 snail Kites fly over the road! There were at least 3 adults! and the rest were juveniles. It was around 8:45 when they flew about 50' over the road right near the parking lot to the marsh trails. What a thrill! about an hour and a half later I had two juveniles soaring in the distance over one of the far marshes at Loxahatchee."
Taj was very helpful this summer finding the Black-tailed Godwit for birders visiting Plum Island, MA (Parker River NWR). He said the Ft. Lauderdale Airport Smooth-billed Anis were no-shows.
