On Sunday Jan 28 on the Gumbo Limbo trail I saw a vireo which may have been a Cassin's. It was close to the size of a white-eyed vireo, but with bold white spectacles and a grayish head that blended into the green back. The sides were pale yellow. The other blue-headed vireos I have seen have all had a much more distinctive, contrasting gray head than the bird I saw yesterday. The bird was on the grassy road that cuts through the trail, not on the paved trail itself. Also on this same road, but on the 21st, I saw a big Myarchius flycatcher- Great-crested sized but with a much paler grey throat and yellow underparts. It was silent. Brown-crested? I could be trying too hard......
