A lone Ruddy Duck was seen at 5:00 p.m. on 12/17 at a new migation wetland on the N.E. corner of Sheridan Street and Pine Island Road. It is about 1 mile west of University Dr. Also observed was a Northern Harrier spooking a Wilson's Snipe. Unfortunately this might be all that will be left on this amazing cow farm that has produced so many birds over the past years during the CBC-Eastern Meadowlarks, Glossy Ibis, Red-tailed, Broadwing, and Red-shouldered Hawks Merlin and Peregrine Falcon, Sharp-shinned and Coopers Hawks. Over the years I have seen my territory being destroyed by rapid growth. Soon all that will be left will be found only in the parks and mitigation sites. As a native of Broward it is beyond sad. The population of Burrowing Owl are doing great in Brian Piccolo. Just go a little further west.
