I couldn't get there early, which turned out well for me. I arrived about 9:45am and found several who had been looking since 8:00am with no luck. Robin shoed up and gave me some details from the day before which helped a lot. Robin didn't stay long because she had an appointment. The others left about 10:45 and I decided to wait till a little after 11:00am since that is when Robin had reported seeing the bird.
I leaning on the rail next to the shower along the boardwalk at the bathroom when I heard the Spindalis. I turned around and found it in a Sea Grape. I tried snapping some photos but it wouldn't come out of the leaves for a good shot.
I imitated the call and the Spindalis came a little close allowing me a couple of photos. One of which was OK... I am posting it with this page. After that the bird flew across the path into some srubs by the bathroom. I never relocated the bird, but I didn't try very hard since I had to leave. As I was leaving Dee showed up looking. I gave her some info before leaving. I hope she got her look at the bird.
