the "yellow" cardinal that Paul Bithorn referred to is a yellow variant of the Northern Cardinal, Cardinalis cardinalis, and not the true Yellow Cardinal, Gubernatrix cristata, of South America. In which case, when referring to variants, the word "yellow" should've been in quotations.

That said, I believe you are right, the bird is, IMHO (Toe...behave), a Summer Tanager, Piranga Rubra.

By the way, the Eared Grebe, Podiceps nigricollis, is alive and well at Green Cay Wetlands, thank you very much. I wonder why Chris Newton hasn't posted it in Florida RBA? He does look at our birdboard right? I know Toe emailed him already...hmmm.
