I went to the Green Cay wetlands today and saw our friend the Eared Grebe in plain view right behind the visitor center. You can't miss him. He was very cooperative and actually swam right under the boardwalk where I was standing. He seems to have made friends with two Lesser Scaup. All of the birders there are under the impression that this is an Eared Grebe, and I heard someone say that the bird has been there for about 4 weeks. Also, I went to the North Broward site posted by John Hutchinson and saw the Lesser Black Backed Gulls. It was good to see as there were hundreds of Laughing Gulls and some Herring Gulls and you can compare the difference between those and the Lesser Black Backs. Seeing a lone Black Backed, I would probably have assumed it was a Herring Gull. Thanks John.
