My group saw the Bittern and the "Broadwing" Hawk.
We deliberated over the scope and books as to whether or not it was a broadwing. Nothing else fit the bird we saw.
The Bittern on the other hand, was seen clearly by myself and Chadda (not sure of correct spelling)and glimsed by John as it flew in front of us and then promptly disappeared ,in true bittern fashion ,in the reeds. Coloration, flying style and shape all fit.And no it wasn't an immature night heron(although I did see an adult)
PS I hope to get to meet you at the next ST5 trip!
Hopefully I'll have a new teleconverter by then so I can get those definitve shots of suspect birds :)
