With Robin out of town I took it upon myself to see who was mixed in with the turkey vulture kettles over Cape Florida State Park yesterday. Highlights included at least two (maybe 3) Swainson's hawks; I got a good look at one adult and one immature. Also there were about a half-dozen broadwings in the mix plus peregrine, Cooper's, sharpie and red-shouldered. A dark-phase buteo was gliding near a light-phase broadwing and they were the same size and shape, although they both were fairly far away. It was too small to be the dark-phase redtail that has been out here once or twice this fall.
Anybody else ever see dark-phase Broadwings around So Fla?
