Went out birding again between 2:00 and 3:30. Notonly did I want to get an idea of what would be wintering at these two parks this year, but I also wanted to see one of those mythical kinglets everyone is seeing. I went to Enchanted Forest first but it was crowned so I went to Arch Creek on the other side of the railroad tracks.
Enchanted Forest:
Ruby-throated Hummingbird
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
Blue-headed Vireo
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Orange-crowned Warbler
Black-throated Blue Warbler- two
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler
Pine Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler
Black-and-white Warbler
Common Yellowthroat
Spot-breasted Oriole
At Arch Creek I had some of the same, and adding:
Broad-winged Hawk
Eastern Phoebe
Northern Parula
Worm-eating Warbler
Ovenbird
I witnessed a Black-and-white Warbler at Arch Creek attempting to eat a juvenile Brown Anole. This is the first time I have seen a warbler try to eat a lizard. Probably not a common occurence or observation.
I had fifteen warbler species today, which is probably my best total all year. I also came to the conclusion that kinglets don't exist today.
