OK, not the correct terminology, but the correct phenomenon this morning (Tuesday) at Bill Baggs.

A large, fluctuating kettle of Turkey Vultures attracted several different buteos, accipiters and falcons. At least 2 Sharp-shinned Hawks, a probable Coopers, 2 probable Red-shouldered and 2 more buteo shapes joined over a period of 30 minutes. A probable Peregrine streamed off to the south - the size and shape were good, the light was bad. As I left, a Merlin came in low and close enough to be wearing a name tag. The kettle dissipated at 11 when the winds picked up.

To compensate for sheer frustration, I did nail the ID of a perched, screaming Red-shouldered Hawk 40 ft away! A probable good day. I need to get to Curry Hammock for flight lessons.....

Several shy sparrows in grassy area east of marina parking lot. Heads up if you are near the 2nd (from north) freshwater pond - I heard rail-like grunting.
