I have to admit , there was nothing particularly exciting as far as birds go. There was, however,a crocodile hanging out in the smaller pond adjacent to the large pond. This is the first time I have ever seen one in the wild ( yes, it was a croc, not a gator), so I guess that is a "lifer" for me. Must be the herper in me..
As for birds, about a dozen or so cormorants, 4 turkey vultures bathing ( yes!) in the pond, an anhinga drying its wings in the tree, and 2 wood pewees in the grassy part of the trip.
The weather was great and the best thing about canoeing the Everglades is the QUIET of it all!!!
