Emily Morris and I went to the big mound down Old Ingraham Highway in ENP today to look for ducks and shorebirds. Nothing wacky, but enjoyable birding nonetheless. Raptors like to strafe the top of the mound, so you get a good show when you're up top. A big immature Peregrine provided the best entertainment. Hell, just being above sea level enough to have a decent view was a rush. Most things were on the south side of the mound.

On the way home we stopped by the Common Myna roost at the produce buildings at the south end of Krome Ave and saw at least 300 Mynas coming in to roost in one of the buildings. I think they are established.

Selective list:

Am. White Pelican (~300 in flight)
Great White Heron
Glossy Ibis
Mottled Duck
Blue-winged Teal
Ring-necked Duck
N. Harrier
Sharp-shinned Hawk
Short-tailed Hawk
Bald Eagle
Merlin (working the Myna roost)
Peregrine Falcon
Caspian Tern
Black-bellied Plover
Greater Yellowlegs
Lesser Yellowlegs
Dunlin
Least Sandpiper
Wilson's Snipe
Dowitchers

Yesterday the Cutler wetlands and Dump Marsh were quiet, but there were a few American Wigeon and Ring-necks at the Dump Marsh. Though my favorite sightings there were a Crocodile in the canal and 3 splendid Silver-banded Hairstreaks.
