Where are the birds? OK, once the fronts start coming it should pick up, but Barnes was dead this morning. I mean it's like they sprayed the place with birdicide. I have a training class in the area so I stopped for about an hour, although I didn't expect much. One redstart, one palm, one hummer, and four painted buntings, and some gnatcatchers. No "ALL CAP" birds today. Oh well, I got out, had a nice walk through the hammock, and saw some butterflies. Still, a morning without birds is...
CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
By contrast, Cutler Wetlands was alive with birds early yesterday, with many shorebirds, wood storks, spoonbills, over 60 green-winged teal, and at least 8-10 wilson's snipes. And one dunlin that was scrutinized extensively just in case.
