This morning birding started off a Birch State Park with Wally
George's Saturday morning birding group. Thirteen warbler species
were seen by the group including a FOTS Yellow Warbler and a
Hooded Warbler along with about all the usual suspects. Other
FOTS birds seen there were a male Painted Bunting and a Gray
Catbird. Other good sightings included a couple of Merlins,
Swainson's Thrushes and a Solitary Sandpiper. A check of
Colohatchee Park turned up little of interest but later Mark Bernie
and I made a more productive stop at Evergreen Cemetery. There
we added two more FOTS warblers, a Blue-winged Warbler and a
Blackpoll, giving us a total of 15 species. There was also a
Cooper's Hawk in the cemetery along with a couple of Spot-
breasted Orioles and a few more Swainson's Thrushes. In my last
posting "Merlins etc." I gave an incorrect name for Evergreen
Cemetery, calling it Greenleaf Cemetery, around here we usually
refer to it as The Cemetery.
