It is with great sadness, but fond memories that I have learned of Juan's passing. I still am amazed at his ability to hear the faintest of chip-notes and locate it source. Being a man of few words had its advantages.
I remember that when I birded with Juan I would actually watch HIM to see where he was looking, at least as often as I would look for birds myself.
My condolences to his family, friends, and the south Florida birding community.
