Chatty Cathy at Lucky Hammock and Annex! (Sept 26th)

At least 3 Yellow-breasted Chats were heard (1 seen) at the Lucky Hammock proper, and at least one at the Annex (1 seen). I remember Larry Manfredi saying something about a dozen chats in the area last year. I'm not sure how he got the number (tape, etc.), but I wouldn't be surprised if that many were around in the area right now...too bad they're so secretive this time of year! (the one at the annex was actually right out in the open for a solid couple of minutes!). The usual suite of migrants were present, but not super abundant...Rafael thinks the storm has caused some "migration constipation" in the upper part of the state...sounds catchy, doesn't it? I guess when it all clears and the wind switches, the flood gates will open.

Headed to see the gull on Saturday...hoping for a repeat of last years Key West Sept. 29th fallout...wouldn't that be nice!
