Went south this afternoon in search of birds in locations Trey and Toe frequent. A nice change of pace from Enchanted Forest Park in North Miami, which was closed anyway to prepare for some "haunted halloween trail" or something to that effect.

At Cutler Wetlands, I saw Mottled Ducks, Stilt and Least Sandpipers, both yellowlegs, Long-billed Dowitchers (called just for me), Killdeer, and plenty of American Coots.

Dump Marsh had plenty of birds as usual. The first Savannah Sparrows of the season were seen along the western ponds. A Mallard was also seen in there, and was acting very skittish. Perhaps a wild one? At the main pond, I saw some Blue-winged Teal, American Wigeon, and a Northern Pintail were seen among the coots and grebes. Northern Harriers and American Kestrels patrolled the fields.

Sadowski was a bit quiet, but I still found a couple day birds, including Eastern Phoebe and House Wren. Trey arrived and we watched the Painted Buntings for a little bit.

Bring on the winter birds!
