Hit a few spots around Key Largo today. Not much for warblers - lots of pishing for 12 species and few individuals - but the highlight was point-blank looks at a Swainson's Warbler foraging in the leaf litter in its peculiar tail-vibrating way for several minutes. This was in the afternoon at Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Park, which was otherwise devoid of birds. Non-avian highlights there were a young Rough Green Snake, a Brazilian Skipper, and an unfortunate land hermit crab with a plastic aerosol can lid for a house.
At Pennekamp birds were also scarce but included Cape May Warbler and Blue-headed and Yellow-throated Vireos.
Hawks were everywhere, especially Broad-wings, Short-taileds, Sharpies, Kestrels, two Cooper's, a few Merlins, and one Swainson's Hawk.
In the exotics department, we had about 20 Black-hooded Parakeets in a dockside neighborhood in Key Largo.
