The Sandhill Cranes are not unusual, but a Snail Kite in the field next to the hammock is totally bizarre. Is it possible you saw a Northern Harrier? I've seen Snail Kites way down in the annex where there are wetlands on the East side of the road, but it's hard to imagine what one would be doing up around the hammock. Was it just flying by?
Also, where in the park did you see one?
