The Cuban Emerald, a jewel of a hummingbird, is common all over Grand Bahama. They are attracted to both native and ornamental or exotic flowering species. Bahama Woodstars are another story. You may have to work to find this hummer. Try St. George Park in Freeport. It is a relatively new park, so it is not shown in the First Edition of Tony White's excellent ABA Birdfinding Guide for the Bahamas. It is a beautiful botanical garden chock full of West Indian Hardwoods, many of which are labeled. Many of the Bahamian specialties can be seen here. Life is good..............birding the Bahamas.
