Over 20 birders participated in this morning's birdwalk at Matheson Hammock. The day got off to a good start when 4 Blue-and-yellow Macaws flew over the parking lot.

We ended up with 12 warbler species (Parula, Cape May, Black-throated Blue, Yellow-throated, Prairie, Black-and-white, Redstart, Prothonotary, Worm-eating, Ovenbird, N. Waterthrush, and Kentucky). Other highlights included a gray morph Eastern Screech-Owl, Yellow-throated Vireo, Veery, two or three silent empidonax flycatchers, Summer Tanager, Spot-breasted Oriole, and many, many Eastern Kingbirds.

Matheson specialties included White-crowned Pigeon, about 15 Hill Mynas, and Yellow-chevroned Parakeets.

We returned to the parking lot at about 11am, having with a total of 47 species for the morning.
