No trashbird Alder/Traill's Flycatchers to report, but yesterday, a half-dozen+ birders scoured the cells at STA-5 in Hendry County throughout the morning and most of the afternoon to come up with a decent list of birds for the day. We managed to add another three species to the ongoing checklist project for this location. Our small group of birders included our first (to my knowledge) international birder -- a young woman from The Netherlands as well as an out-of-state birder from northern Alabama. Here is our day list of species seen. The most abundant species were Lesser Yellowlegs (>1000) and Common Moorhen (bazillions)! An * next to the species name indicates a new species for STA-5:

A new lep was added to our checklist for STA-5: Variegated Fritillary. Other leps seen: Giant Swallowtail, Gulf Fritillary, Sleepy Orange, White Peacock, Queen, Monarch, Barred Yellow, Cloudless Sulphur, Tropical Checkered-Skipper, and Long-tailed Skipper.
