We had a cross country meet today at Greynold's Park in North Miami. I was unable to race because of injury, and had to help record times for the team. There was some time to do some birding (without binoculars), which was simple because there were birds everywhere. I was only able to identify a small fraction of the birds, which again was frustrating:
Merlin
Belted Kingfisher
Blue-gray Gnatcatcher
Gray Catbird
Red-eyed Vireo
Northern Parula
Black-throated Blue Warbler
Yellow-throated Warbler
Prairie Warbler
Palm Warbler- many
Black-and-white Warbler
American Redstart
Worm-eating Warbler
Ovenbird
Common Yellowthroat
Hooded Warbler- a beautiful male
Eleven warbler species seen without binoculars while not even birding; obviously I would have liked to check out the park a little more...
