I had a new parrot in my yard today. Larger than an Aratinga, very long tail with substantial yellow underneath, brownish shoulder patches (wings closed), crown and forehead leaf green with a thin dark line from cere to eye (which is yellow), face is gray-green like a Monk
Parakeet, extending to the underparts. The beak was heavier than an Aratinga's and pink. The two note call sounded like a very large Tufted Titmouse. I think this is a female Alexandrine Parakeet (Juniper and Parr, p 135). Are they known to be around here?
