With early morning thundershowers developing along the southeast coast of Dade County a short run down south to see if some migrants might choose to hold up seemed appropriate. My first stop was at A. D. Barnes Park where a Blue-winged Warbler was the only FOTS bird seen among a nice variety and good numbers of fall migrants. It was seen in the picnic area northwest of the nature center. My other stop was at Bill Baggs (Cape Florida) State Park late in the morning. Songbird activity had settled down by then and little new was seen but there were a few raptors around. The most interesting was a FOTS Broad-winged Hawk along with a couple of Peregrine Falcons, Kestrels, and a Merlin.
