There have been Sandhill Cranes around Lucky Hammock this summer and fall. (In the past, I've also found them in the East Everglades in summer.) They are likely the non-migratory Florida Sandhill Cranes.

I think Bill's point is that a migrating flock would have to be Greater Sandhill Cranes, which would not be expected this early in the fall.

Of course, the birds might not have been migrating.
