Yesterday a.m. at 7:15 I hear my blue jays going crazy so look out my bedroom window and see something brown in the middle of my green backyard by the steps to my treehouse. Looks like a palm frond that just fell off a tree but there aren't any palms in that area. I swear it looks like an American Bittern but that can't be. So I walk out there, it lowers it's head from pointing straight up, gives me a look, and with a couple of hoks, it flies up and over the fence and is gone. I stood there for 10 seconds with my mouth open. How's that for a yard bird in Biscayne Gardens (North Miami) a few blocks east of I-95!
