Good afternoon,
After reading Nancy's description of the wheatear a few hours ago, two questions about the bird come to mind:
1) Is Nancy's description of the bird's wary behavior typical for the past few days, or did Nancy just experience bad luck? It has been well-demonstrated with many other mega-rarities (e.g., Florida's Nothern Lapwing and Mangrove Swallow) that a bird often becomes more difficult to see several days after its discovery.
2) Are there any "rules" or recommendations that Park staff have initiated t birders since the wheatear's discovery (e.g., stay 100 feet from buildings, or remain in the parking lot at all times)?
Thanks in advance for any answers, as well as any other relevant information.
Best regards,
Bill Pranty
