Susan Schneider and I were joined by 22 enthusiastic, great birders this morning at A.D. Barnes Park. We accumulated 53 species, including 15 warbler species.
Highlights: Cooper's Hawks (family unit?), White-crowned Pigeon, Orange-winged Parrots, Yellow-chevroned Parakeets, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, Chuck-will's-widow, Eastern Wood-Pewee, Great Crested Flycatcher, Veery, Yellow-throated and Red-eyed Vireos, Lonesome Titmouse, Summer and Scarlet Tanagers and Common and Hill Mynas.
Warblers: Northern Parula, Tennessee (~6), Chestnut-sided (2), Magnolia, Cape May, Black-throated Blue, Yellow-throated, Prairie, Palm, Pine, Worm-eating, Black-and-white, American Redstart, Ovenbird (lots) and Common Yellowthroat.
Our most interesting mystery guest was an empid that gave a great imitation of John's iPod cued to Willow Flycatcher.
Thanks to everyone for participating. It was great to see regulars and some new faces, including a visiting birder from Kansas. We challenge Team Rock & Toe to better our 15-warbler day at Matheson tomorrow.
