Wakodahatchee was average today, (8:30 - 11:00). Very few joggers and several photographers and AS members. A baby Green Back entertained several people for three hours. It was about 4 days out of the nest and cute as it could be. The immature coots and Moorhens, and gallinules were everywhere and as big as chickens. Only a couple of mottled ducks, tr-colors were present but quiet. Duckweed everywhere, about 85% coverage. One hawk flew over at a northern distance too great to ident. Some warblers passed overhead but again too high to id. A large Thunderstorm hung to the east and blocked the sun for several hours and when it dissipated everyone wanted it back. Hot and humid was not the word. Unbearable. It just sapped the energy. Saw one limpkin, oddly enough on the fence across the road from the Wakodahatchee area. White ibis were present but in limited numbers. Good photo ops were absent and unusual birds not present. This place is not quite ready for "pro-league". Maybe in another thirty-sixty days. Whew! We earned it today!
