The northeast parks were pretty active with a good variety of migrants on Saturday along with a growing number of exotics invading our urban areas. For the first time I had Hill Mynas and Common Mynas in Greynolds Park. Other highlights include a beautiful male Kentucky warbler and a spectacular male Blackburnian warbler in the oak hammock south of the main picnic area. Two other Blackburnians were observed in Arch Creek Park. A Chat and an early House wren were in Arch Creek Park. I was delighted to observe an adult Red-tailed Hawk attempt to catch a fairly large Green iquana from a snag in the Greynolds rookery, but he could not hang on to the big lizard - however there is hope. Fruiting Strangler figs were the big migrant attractors for warblers, vireos, orioles, and kingbirds.
