On a Broward Audubon birdtrip on Sat. 9/16/06, a red-headed woodpecker was seen by the Beach parking area perched on a snag on the east side of the parking area and in flight. Other good birds seen that morning were brown-thrasher, Baltimore Oriole, chucks-will-widow (in flight over road toward north end of park), Wilson's warbler, yellow-throated warbler, American redstart, prairie warbler, northern parula, red-eyed vireo, northern rough-wing swallow, and other common species.
