Unfortunately the birds on Monday were not cooperating and I only got two photos of the bird in the same position. I m fairly confident that the bird is an Alder and not an Acadian. We heard the Alder call at the same location and looking at the bird through my binoculars it appeared to be a traillii. All of us there have experience with traillii species and Acadians, which never crossed our minds. Alders have been seen at the Annex for the last several weeks and were easily seen this time last year as well.
We did however see one unidentified flycatcher near Luck Hammock and Acadian was a consideration. I believe that I saw an Acadian there last week, but only in flight. The color and size seemed right. Bryant Roberts saw what he believed my be an Acadian at Lucky Hammock on 08/27.
If you are considering birding the location in hopes of seeing an Alder, make the trip and you will probably find one of the two Alder that are being seen regularly. If you are looking for an Acadian, it is a possibility, but I don t think anyone has claimed seeing one with confidence.
Good luck!
