This morning (8/31), at about 8:00am, there was a beautiful MALE painted bunting sitting in an Elderberry shrub in the courtyard of my apartment in South Beach. The area is on 15th Terrace between Bay road and West Avenue. I was quite surprised! There is a bird feeder in this shrub, but in the 20 minutes he remained (extremely tame) he didn't use it. Hopefully he will stay around. Actually,I don't recall in the last 14 years seeing one so early around here. I took a few fair photos, I'll try to figure out how to post them.
