I stopped at Bill Sadowski this morning and to my great surprise I had a
wonderful time birding. When I walked up to the hammock I thought it was going
to be a quiet walk through the park because I saw and heard very little
activity, but as soon as I walked into the hammock I began spotting migrants.
B&W's, Parula, Prairies, Yellow-throated and Blue-grey Gnatcatchers were
plentiful and briefly I saw a Prothonotary fly from a tree back into some cover.
I continued my walk and continued to see several flocks of migrants. I never saw
but believe that I heard a BT Blue and a Ovenbird. I was really disappointed
that I didn't get a better look at the Prothonotary, but just as I was walking
out the back side of the hammock I got a good look at another one. I missed the
photo because of the brush in the way and the distance, but they are really a
beautiful bird. Today is the first time in the year and a half I have been
birding the park that I have seen Prothonotary there and I spoke with Toe and he
hadn't seen them there either.

A quick comment on the cleared area: I spoke with Barbara and she said that
they still have a lot to do to create the shallow wetland area and there is a
lot of hope that it will be a success. There has been quite a bit of uproar from
some of the neighbors about the project, but apparently the immediate neighbors
are excited. They are concerned about mosquitoes and I'm not sure what else, but
I think it will be a nice addition to the park.

Parula    5

Prairie 8

Common Yellow Throat 4

Yellow-throated 3

Prothonotary 2
