AD Barnes offered a warm humid early evening walk and birding. The report of
the Cerulean Warbler drew me to the park. Over all nothing out of the ordinary,
but there was enough activity to remind me that Fall migration has already
started. I did an extensive search in the area described by Bryant, with no luck
finding the Cerulean.
There were several small mixed flocks of warblers in the hammock area in the
North West corner of the park.
I saw:
Blue-grey Gnatcatcher 12
Prairie Warbler 5
Yellow-throated 4
Common Yellow Throat 1
Red Start 8
Black & White Warbler 1
Blackburnian (only a quick look, so I'm not sure, but saw a warbler with a deep
orange throat very briefly and it flew up and away not to be seen again. I don't
know what else it could have been.)
Red-eyed Vireo 4
White-crowned Pigeon 1
Blue Jay 7
Mockingbirds 12
Red-shouldered Hawk at the Fountain
Blue-grey Gnatcatcher
